This recording was produced in New York City in 1943 with Fats Waller (piano & vocals).
*"If You're A Viper" was written by Thomas "Fats" Waller.
In what has become one of the most famous reefer songs of all-time Fats Waller makes no bones about sharing insight on the ups and downs of his favorite vice.
Although Waller was the author of the song it was first recorded in 1937 by Rosetta Howard and the "Harlem Hamfats", a studio band formed by talent scout Mayo Williams in 1936 to accompany vocalists.
