This performance of the "John Kirby Band" is from the 1947 film "Sepia Cinderella" with Charlie Shavers (trumpet), Buster Bailey (clarinet), Russell Procope (alto sax), Billy Kyle (piano), John Kirby (bass), and Big Sid Catlett (drums); replacing O'Neil Spencer who died in 1945.
The movie starring Billy Daniels, Sheila Guyse, and Tondaleyo was the second produced exclusively for black audiences by Jack Goldberg and Arthur Leonard.
