This recording was made on September 27, 1938 with the following personnel Buck Clayton, trumpet; Eddie Durham, trombone and amplified guitar; Lester Young, clarinet; Freddie Green, guitar; Walter Page, bass; and Jo Jones, drums.

Eddie Durham made history at this session playing an amplified guitar for the first time on record.

It is also one of few recorded instances in which Lester Young lays aside his tenor sax to be captured on clarinet alone.
