Henry Red Allen's All Stars perform for a broadcast of CBS T.V.'s "Sound Of Jazz" on December 8, 1957.

The musicians are Henry 'Red' Allen, trumpet and vocals; Rex Stewart, cornet; Vic Dickenson, trombone; Pee Wee Russell, clarinet; Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax; Nat Pierce, piano; Milt Hinton, string bass; Danny Barker, guitar; and Jo Jones, drums.

In the late 1950s after a brief stay with the Benny Goodman Orchestra, Red Allen formed his own band playing at The Famous Door in Manhattan and embarked on a U.S. tour. He joined Kid Ory's band in 1959 and with them, traveled to Europe for the first time.
